ALEX is the Austrian National Library's digital reading room for legal texts and legislation. The online system allows you to search and browse Austrian legal texts and legislation issued between 1780 and 1945. Austrian laws adopted since 1945 are documented in the Federal Chancellery's Legal Information System (known as RIS).

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy's labour market and employment database provides a range of information for job seekers in Austria, including details about training courses offered by the Public Employment Service (AMS), employment, the state of the job market and apprenticeships, as well as statistics regarding international unemployment rates and demographic data.

CURIA – Court of Justice of the European Union/Case-law

This database contains a selection of documents, minutes of meetings, press releases, newspaper articles, speeches by European heads of state and government and internal memos produced by European Commission services, as well as documents on overarching institutional issues and various intergovernmental conferences. The collection covers the reporting period from 1946 to the present day.

EUR-Lex makes the body of European Union law publicly available and grants official, comprehensive access to EU legal documents. The portal is available in all 24 of the European Union's official languages, and is updated on a daily basis. Along with access to the Official Journal of the European Union, EUR-Lex also provides free access to the comprehensive body of EU legislation, including treaties, Community law, legislative procedures and international agreements, as well as preparatory documents (legislative proposals, Green Papers, White Papers, etc.), EU case-law, international conventions, EFTA documents and EU budget plans. Documents are available within a maximum of three days following publication. The same document can be viewed in up to three different language versions simultaneously.

EUR-Lex also provides an insight into the legislative process. By documenting everything from the initial proposal to the adoption of the final text, it allows readers to get a better understanding of EU law.

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is the voice of regions and cities within the EU. It advises the European Parliament, the Council or the Commission and represents local and regional authorities across the EU, as well as submitting official opinions on new legal provisions.

The European Regional Database (ERD) was originally published by the consulting firm Cambridge Econometrics, but is now operated by the Directorate-General for Regional Policy and Urban Development, and provides regional statistical data free of charge.

The Annual Regional Database of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (ARDECO) provides regional data on growth, convergence, competitiveness and demographics throughout Europe for the statistical territories NUTS1, NUTS2 and NUTS3. The data is updated twice a year, following the publication of the European Commission's Spring and Autumn Forecasts.

EUROSTAT is the statistical office of the European Union. It provides high-quality statistics and data about Europe, and works closely with national statistical offices and other national authorities to produce Europe-wide statistics. The alliance of European national statistical authorities, sometimes referred to as the European Statistical System (ESS), also includes the national statistics offices of Switzerland and European Economic Area (EEA) member states.

The database of the European Court of Human Rights publishes all the decisions and judgments reached by Committees, Chambers and Grand Chambers. Specific search functions allow users to search for judgments and decisions based on a range of criteria.

The International Monetary Fund's eLibrary gives users direct access to the Fund's publications and statistical databases. The library includes a selection of eBooks as well as macroeconomic analysis and reports, including the World Economic Outlook Report, the Global Financial Stability Report, and Regional Economic Outlook reports. This database shows facts and figures about Austria's climate. The data covers four areas: emissions per capita, production-based emissions, consumption-based emissions, and historical emissions since 1850. Detailed information is only available in German.

The database covers all ongoing and completed procedures and associated documents from July 1994 onwards, and retains all documents forwarded to the Parliament by the Commission for information for the period of one year.

OEIL – The Legislative Observatory, the European Parliament's database for monitoring the EU decision-making process

Open data portals ensure the accessibility of public sector data and information compiled or acquired by authorities as well as the free reusability of public sector data by the general public. The data and information provided have been created or paid for and collected by public bodies and are freely available for general reuse.

Data.gv.at is the Austrian metadata catalogue based on a cooperation agreement between the Federal State, cities, federal states and municipalities. This portal is the single point of contact to the European data portal and provides access to numerous open datasets, services and applications of the Austrian administration.

This bibliography records historical research published in Austria since 1945. It provides a bibliographical index of monographs; articles from commemorative publications, journals, conference volumes; collections of essays; serials, theses, dissertations and postdoctoral theses.

Austrian Historical Bibliography – ÖHB (German)

The Austrian Biographical Dictionary, published by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, covers well-known individuals who were born, lived or worked in Austria or the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and who died between 1815 and 1950. The online edition has been published since 2011, and incorporates all the biographies in their print edition as well as all supplements, corrections and additions, and individuals who died before 2010.

The editors of the bibliography have also made a deliberate decision to include individuals who are perhaps less well known among the general public, but who are highly respected in their specialist fields.

Austrian Biographical Dictionary (Österreichisches Biographisches Lexikon) – OeBL (German)

The Legal Information System of the Republic of Austria (known by the German acronym RIS) is designed to publish legal provisions promulgated in the Federal Law Gazette (Bundesgesetzblatt) and the legal gazettes of Austria's federal states. It also includes official announcements by the social security body (Amtliche Verlautbarungen der Sozialversicherung) and official veterinary notices (Amtliche Veterinärnachrichten).

In addition, RIS provides users with access to case law, selected legal standards applicable at municipal level, selected decrees issued by Federal Ministries, and other official notices.

Users can access the statistical database of Statistics Austria (Statistik Austria) to retrieve and analyse data on a wide range of subjects. The statistical database STATCube is publicly available and may be used, in a restricted scope, free of charge ("guest access"). The Data available is restricted with respect to structural depth and volume and the size of query tables is limited.

The Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) provides access to current economic indicators for Austria and the world economy that users can download free of charge. The datasets are taken from the WIFO Data System (WDS), which is continuously updated.

The World Bank's Open Data initiative gives the general public access to a comprehensive range of materials. Its data catalogue includes over 2,000 statistical indicators covering development, the environment, education, health, gender, finance and the economy.
