Accreditation for events

Journalists can use the centralised online accreditation system to be accredited for events of the Austrian Federal Government and the Office of the Austrian Federal President.

You should submit your application for accreditation to these events as soon as possible – please mind the time limit given in the note to your media organisation!

Online accreditation for certain events

For your first accreditation with our system you are requested to register and enter your personal data. Kindly enter your email address and a personal password and answer a security question as required by the registration form. Subsequently complete the media accreditation form (application form).

To complete the process successfully you are required to attach a recent digital colored photograph on which you are perfectly recognizable. Please do not use a scan from a document as this will not give the required image quality. In the registration form fill in the data of your valid press card. Instead of your press card you may also attach a letter from your media organisation confirming your personal assignment for the particular event (letter of endorsement). These attachments must be sent in jpg (for the photograph), doc or pdf format. Processing of your application is only possible if all information is complete.

Please don’t forget to tick the event you want to attend in the list of events.

Note: The application form only has to be filled in once. Your personal password allows you to change or add data to your application form at any time (e.g. register for another event).

Please be aware that your data are submitted to an accuracy check as well as to a security check. The protection and security of your personal data is important to us. We therefore store and process data solely in accordance with current data protection legislation. From 25 May 2018, your data is subject to the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (GDPR) as well as the provisions of the Data Protection Act as amended by the Data Protection Amendment Act (as amended) of 25 May 2018. As a user, you consent to the processing of data in line with this declaration.

Issue of badges

A separate accreditation badge is issued for each event. This badge then allows you to attend all the parts of the agenda set up in the letter to your media organisation. The badge will only be handed out upon presentation of a valid press card or the original letter of endorsement from your media organisation. The badge is non-transferable and must always be worn visibly during the event. Furthermore you must be ready to prove identity at all times by means of an official document with a photograph.

Please collect your accreditation badge at the times given in the letter to your media organisation at the

Permanent admission card 2024

A permanent admission card is reserved for those media representatives who regularly, i.e. several times a month, participate in public media events of the Federal Chancellery and the Office of the Federal President in order to report on current political issues.

When applying for your permanent admission card, please provide evidence of your journalistic activities. To do this, include the details of your valid press ID in the application (number and issuing body) or upload a letter of assignment signed by your editor-in-chief, which confirms your requirement for a permanent accreditation card. The Federal Press Service would like to point out that your application will be examined factually and that further evidence of your journalistic activities on current political and economic issues could be requested. In particular, we check whether in terms of legal interpretation you qualify as a media employee according to Section 1. Paragraph 11 of the Media Act. Regardless of the legal form of your medium, compliance with the Media Act § 24 Imprint and § 25 Disclosure is checked. In individual cases, we reserve the right not to issue you a permanent admission card. Improper use will result in the card being withdrawn.
